Transport companies operatin in Kamembe town, Rusizi district are facing a transport shortage crisis as passengers heading to Kigali can hardly get tickets on the same day.

On January 4, 2012 no one could get a ticket to Kigali at transport companies like Impala, Omega and Sotra.

One of the passengers (Name needed) we talked to told us that he managed to travel on Wednesday because he bought a ticket a day before.

Transport companies like Omega and Impala were only left with tickets for Friday by Wednesday as all the other tickets had been fully booked.

The problems of transport shortages were also experienced in other parts of the country in days preceding the New Year’s. Passengers were seen stuck at Nyabugogo Taxi Park in Kigali.

Other trying periods for passengers are when the schools terms are opening and closing.
