People who own vehicles and motorcycles in Gakenke district have expressed their concern that they cannot get oil any where nearby following closure of the only petrol station in district that has lasted for about two months.

Closed station as looks idle

For people to get oil and petrol, it takes them a journey of about 30KMs to Musanze or 15KMs to Base in Rilindo district.

Motorcyclists who work in this place say that they buy petrol in cans and then keep it in their homes so as to use at a convenient time and this causes insecurities in their homes where any time they are at risk of burning their houses.

Africa Ndayizigiye who worked at the GAPCO petrol station in Gakenke trading centre which no longer works said that that they stopped working due to fuel pump that was not working well and when they exchanged it, the new one also got a problem.
