Rwandans using air transport in their daily journeys from up country are said to be very few. Reports Innocent Hodari Musoni, head of sells at Rwandair Rubavu branch.

Innocent Hodali Musoni explains that most of their flights carry full board when there is not even one person who is of Rwandese national instead when they are all of Congolese national and other foreigners sent by Serena hotel.

He continues to explain that Rwandans have not yet understood the benefits of using Air transport. Its true air transport is expensive compared to other means of transport but air transport does not involve the risks of many accidents, saves time and does not fatigue a person like seating in a car for so many hours traveling.

People don’t see the essence of using the expensive air transport when there are other cheap means of road transport.

Business man Xavier Ndirorera said, « Travelling by air to Kigali instead of road is awastage of resources. I would better give the money to the poor instead of wasting it through air transport ».

Benitha Uwamariya said travelling by air from Kigali to Rubavu is not a daily thing because we cant afford it but it can only be done when one is in an urgent situation.

Rwandair is the only air transport company that started operating at Rubavu air port in August 2011.
