In a meeting held at Kirehe district police station on 17 th April 2012, Motor cyclists have been urged never to ride motor cycles without driving permits.

The meeting was between police bosses and motor cyclists.

Inability to read and write by some motor cyclists who know how to ride well makes them incapable to do Written driving tests, Rwanda Traffic Police Boss Chief Sup. Céléstin Twahirwa announced that they have a solution to such cases.

“Those who can neither read nor write will soon be given spoken exams, so that they can also have driving permits.” Announced the Traffic boss

The Rwanda Traffic boss also said that the Police’s intention is to help Rwandans acquire necessary permits as faster as they can.

Commissioner Butera Emmanuel also elaborated to the motor cyclists that, the intention of traffic police to give out driving permits is simply because transport is a necessary pillar of the country’s development.

The Commissioner also cautioned the Motor cyclists to be careful while carrying luggage as it has been often reported that marijuana crosses boarder from Tanzania with their assistance.

This seminar was attended by motor cyclists working within Kirehe district.
